Jitterbuggin'

So, I got a job teaching music to Pre K, Kindergarten, and 1st grade at a private school here in Nashville, yay! It's three days a week so I get to keep one of my other Pre K jobs, and I'm really happy about that. I'm way beyond thrilled to finally be teaching music most of my days, talk about a  breath of fresh air, it's really incredible. Today was my first day teaching and here's the outfit I wore!

What could be more perfect for a first day of school than this incredible Jitterbuggin' blouse I got for my birthday? This is my first item I've ever had from Jitterbuggin' and I'm seriously in love. I had never bought anything before since it's a bit pricey for me, but I had always wanted to. The quality is really perfect, and the prints for the blouses are just too adorable! I've been wearing this one non stop since I got it. If you follow me on instagram (emmyrenee) you're probably sick of seeing me wear it. The only issue (that's not really even an issue) for me is even though I'm quite short (5'2") I have a long torso so the blouse is a bit short on me. Which is mostly not a problem as I keep it tucked in, but it does untuck pretty easily from some of my trousers. But, that's really a body issue and not the blouses fault. All around it's fabulous and I can't wait to save up for another
 splurge item from Jitterbuggin'.

Hair Styles

I'm getting my hair cut in September and I'm not quite sure what style I'm gonna go for. Here are a few lovely cuts that I've been pondering.

I apologize I could not find original sources for the other photos.

I have had many hair cuts/colors over the years (from a platinum blond pixie to long black locks) and it's never made me nervous, after all it's just hair, right? However, this time I'm feeling a little nervous while trying to choose a style...maybe I've had one hair cut/color too long.

What was one of your favorite hair cuts or have you been rocking the same cool 'do for years?

Life Recently

Life lately has consisted of a lot of ups and downs (as life always does) We have done a lot of traveling this summer, some of it planned and some of it to be with grieving family.
I turned 24. I know I'm still so young, but saying that I'm 24 doesn't seem quite right. I feel like I should be saying I'm 18, haha.
I interviewed for a position I very much wanted this summer, my job I have is still wonderful, but I really was hoping for this position. I didn't get it.
I've started teaching piano and voice students and I have been on the roller coaster of emotions about that. From being incredibly happy to being paid back in full for not practicing as much as I should have when I was a child. I was feeling a little lost lately, specifically in music. My job while in teaching is not full time music and I was starting to miss being a part of something. I decided to try out for the Nashville Symphony Chorus. I tried not getting my hopes up that I would get in. I've been working very hard the last month preparing for the audition. This last week I have been nothing but a bundle of nerves trying to stay focused and keep working while trying not to get my hopes up too much. Yesterday I got the news... that I got in!! I feel as if a little cloud has been cleared from above my head. I'm so excited to be a part of a group again. The first rehearsal is tonight and I could hardly sleep last night anticipating it.
That it a little bit of what has been going on here. Here are some snap shots from the past few weeks.

My lovely family made me a Doctor Who themed cake and gave me a fez and bow tie to wear for the festivities.

Tyler and I went to a fabulous exhibit at the Frist on Art Deco cars. They were all to die for.

Tyler built me a fort in our living room and we watched old movies. It was dreamy.

I've gotten lots of lovely gifts. Beautiful Royal Copley pieces that adorn my table, gorgeous Miss L Fire shoes, and Bakelite brooches (I can't wait to show you the adorable yellow Scottie dog I got).

I've enjoyed going out as it's gotten hotter for a sweet treat from Las Palates.

This is a crappy photo but it shows exactly how excited I was last night when I heard I got into the Nashville Symphony Chorus.

Flea Market Goodness

This is a lovely two piece set I found at the flea market here in town for a steal. I'm finding lately that the flea market is by far the best place to shop for vintage. You can almost always get it for a great price and you get to hunt for just what you want. If I'm being completely honest I have also become a little addicted to the thrill of the chase, so whenever I can make it out to the flea market, I do.

I have a question to ask you all. Do you like the big photos better or the small ones? I started trying to make all my photos the same size (horizontal and vertical) but I'm still unsure if I like the size. What do you think?

Wonderful Gift

Tomorrow is my birthday (I'll be 24...eek) and so this weekend has been full of lovely birthday celebrations and fun happenings. I haven't really taken many photos but here are a few quick shots of what I wore on Friday night when I went out with my parents and Ty for a lovely dinner at the Holland House. Which, by the way, I would really recommend to those who are visiting or live here in Nashville and haven't been. Especially if you enjoy a wonderfully mixed cocktail.

This beautiful 40's dress (which seems to never have been worn) was given me to by a darling blog reader Adrianne. It has quickly become my favorite dress and I know I'll be wearing it all the time. I mean, just look at that gorgeous print! *swoon* I about passed out when I received it in the mail. I need to get some better photos to really do it justice.
